Review: Spider Woman’s Daughter
I wasn’t sure whether to put 3 or 4 stars, but it is probably a 3.5.
I am a huge fan on Tony Hillerman, and I was so excited that his daughter Anne had decided to pick up with the characters. I really enjoyed getting to see Bernie, Chee and Leaphorn, although I had really wanted to see more of Leaphorn. I did like how this story ties into Hillerman’s previous novel, A Thief of Time (my favorite in the series) and the pots found at Chaco Canyon. I think Anne did a good job with the characters, and I didn’t mind that the story is from Bernie’s perspective. Anne’s writing is solid and certainly her own style, I still much prefer Tony’s cadence and descriptive style, as well as his dialogue.
All in all, a good story. If you are a fan of Tony Hillerman and the characters, you will enjoy this tale.
