Review: Born of Defiance
The League series is my current favorite series, and I was so excited to read the latest story. At first I had a hard time placing the time frame for Born of Defiance, and as I read on, I realized that it takes place a little bit before Born of Night, and actually some events from that story overlap with this one.
This story delves deep into Andarion politics and social structures – and I thought it was confusing before! Talyn Batur was born an Outcast and has had to fight tooth and nail for every step since his birth. Felicia was trying to pay her way through medical school, and decided to offer herself as a companion. When Talyn sees her photo, he knows he must have her. And the rest, as they say, is history. The plot twists through political intrigue against the Andarion Crown, and many truths are revealed. SK’s characters are, as always, so fun to read. I love their banter and I love their sense of honor. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
