About

Per the tutorial, this page is meant to be “about me.”  Alright then, here goes…

My name is Kristin Wilson, and I live with my husband, two children and various pets in Las Vegas, Nevada.  And before you ask, the answer is yes, people do actually live here.  🙂

I knew I wanted to study English and Literature even prior to starting high school, and obtained a B.A. in English from U.N.L.V.  I have always loved to read and write, and consider my tastes in reading to be rather eclectic.  I love anything from  romances (especially Christmas ones!) to hard-core Science Fiction to fantasy to paranormal to mysteries to graphic novels to biographies to user manuals.  I really do love it all!  My writing tends to lend itself to the paranormal romance or fantasy side I’ve noticed, although I like to write for children too.

I have been doing free-lance editing and writing since 2004.  Although, prior to this, I did quite a bit of informal editing for friends, family and the workplace.  I have edited a number of short stories and a novel mostly in the genres of horror, romance and young adult;  I’ve also worked on short biographies, resumes, and business letters and documents.

But to get to the “nuts and bolts” of it, I have been thinking about offering up some quick tips on grammar and usage for a while now.  With the advent of the internet, and the popularity of blogs, I have noticed some of the same errors time and time again.  I hope to offer easy tips to remember proper usage.

If you’re an author, it is always a good idea to have your writing edited prior to submitting, and absolutely prior to self-publishing your work.   I am happy to offer either a few pages or a couple of chapters of editing done for free to see if you like my style of work.  And yes, there is a style to editing.  I do not just check for grammar and spelling, but for flow, content and style as well.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions!
