I absolutely adore this story! The format is a series of letters back and forth between a soldier on the front line and an elementary school teacher in the safety of the city. I love watching their letters and relationship progress from formal to friendship to something more. I love the feeling of hope that runs throughout the story, that these two seemingly vastly different people… Continue reading
Author Beverly Preston has once again written a story that I just can’t seem to put down until it is finished. Her characters are amazing – very dimensional. Sitting down to read A Taste of Summer was like going to a family reunion for me – I loved catching up on all the characters! How they are doing, what’s going on with their lives, etc.
This story… Continue reading
I am reading this series completely out of order, although I am not sure that it would help all that much. I liked the story, and I really like the character Manannan mac Lir (Mac). That being said, I had a super hard time liking the heroine, Artemis. I just couldn’t do it. Overall, I am happy that in the end things worked out, but I find Mac more… Continue reading
This is the first in a series of adventure/mystery stories by author Thom Reese. (I actually read this awhile ago and just noticed that I did not review!) Marc “Hunt” Huntington and his wife, Dana, are recovery specialists, and find themselves in the Amazon up their armpits in intrigue. Missing scientists, stolen artifacts and general chaos. It is very much an Indiana Jones kind of tale, very fast… Continue reading
Well, I like a lot of the authors that contributed stories to this anthology, and I also like that this was written with the proceeds going to benefit Kids Need to Read Foundation. This set of stories offers a wide range of tales. One of my favorites is The Perfect Gift by Barbara Annino. It is worth picking up for quick, interesting reads.
I really enjoy this author’s Stacy Justice series and thought I would give this book a try. It really does rather lend itself to the TV show Once Upon A Time. Still, the premise is fun, (in the land of Enchantment, the five princesses have signed a blood oath to protect all of their lands. Rapunzel, Belle, Aurora, Cinderella and Snow White) and it is interesting to… Continue reading
This has become one of my favorite book series! The author has a true talent for writing a twisting, suspenseful plot, and it is obvious that she has first-hand knowledge of how the military works. But truthfully, the reason I can’t put these books down is because of the characters. I so love Sergeant Lauren Harper and Sergeant Major Harry Fogg!
The General’s Ambition is the third story… Continue reading
What can I say – this is such an awesome short story! This story takes place after The General’s Ambition, and focuses more on the ever growing relationship between Harry and Lauren. I do recommend reading some of the other stories in this series to enjoy the characters to their fullest extent. I so loved meeting Harry’s mom, Rosalind, as well as Lauren’s sister, Loretta. I enjoyed reading about… Continue reading
I am a huge fan of author team JJ and TA Ellis. This is the third story in the Harper Rock series, and it is about the baby of the family, Dylan. To be honest, in the first two stories, I didn’t really like Dylan. I found him immature and irritating as a character. I was hesitant to pick up this story, but I did want to see what… Continue reading
To be honest, I waited to buy this last story in the Matthews family series until it went on sale as the set. I had already read the first three and really enjoy this author. I was excited to finally get JC’s story. I sat down and read it, and then turned right around and read it a second time. SO much happens, and it is a story of… Continue reading
